It Snowed!

Finally the snow came! After many weeks of Travis calling the weather men liars the snow came and it actually stayed! We decided to get up and go sledding for the first time this winter. Jake did pretty good. He was a little bit worried at first but once he got into it he had a great time!

Something's Coming!

Today we were able to get Jake to sit on the toilet twice to go to the bathroom. Each time he was on the toilet he started to yell, "I think it's coming! That's it! Something's coming!" We're so proud!!

Thanks Grandma Reynolds!

Travis' mom had these train pictures made for Jacob for Christmas, so we hung them up on his bedroom wall. They are so cute!

These are a few pictures from my birthday bash. We took quite a few because I have a very hard time keeping my eyes open and Travis was getting frustrated with me and I started laughing, especially when he told me to stop looking "high". I can't help it! We can't all be beautiful like you Travis! :)

Christmas Don't Be Late!

Jakers is too cute!

I am terrible about writing things down so I'm really trying to work on that. Jake says and does the funniest things sometimes and if I don't start recording them we'll forget. So here are a few things he's said or done in the last little while. I woke him up this morning singing "In the Leafy Tree Tops", from primary and he slowly wiggled awake, pulled me close for a hug and kiss and then asked me to stop singing so he could finish the song. Jake has a jealous side when it comes to me and Travis. Anytime he sees Travis hug or kiss me, Jake will shout "hey that's my mommy! You leave her alone!" Then he runs up to us and tries to "save" me from Travis. We always get a kick out of it cuz it's pretty cute, and Travis likes to egg him on so he will hug and kiss me more and say "Hey Jake, You jealous?" which of course makes him try to save me even more. Once he finally gets Travis away from me Jake will hug and kiss me and then look over at his dad and say "You Jealous Dad?" The first time he did that we died laughing. It's so cute to see what he picks up. My mom has a twin sister, and over Christmas anytime she came over to my mom's house Jake would look at my mom and then look at her sister and say, "That's Grandma...and that's more Grandma!" We just started to call Aunt Joan Grandma More after that :) Jake's uncle Cameron likes to dress up like Nacho Libre and since that is one of Jake's favorite movies he will call Cameron, Nacho, every now and then. We were on the phone with Cameron and his family one time and they were all saying "Hey Jake Uncle Cameron is here". He quickly corrected them all and said, "That's not Cameron, that's Nacho!" Last night we were getting ready for bed when Jake tooted quite loudly. He started to giggle and I told him that's not what we do when we toot. What do you say Jake? Then Jake said,"oh excuse me I have a big poopie!" We tried really hard not to laugh at that one. Jake has a love of music and will sing and dance quite a bit. Travis likes to blast the music for him when they are riding in the car and on certain songs he puckers his lips and starts to bob his head to the music. He is pretty good at singing along to. Some of his favorites are: Beverly Hills by Weezer, Apologize by One Republic, Ordinary People by John Legend, and anything that Michael Jackson sings. He's also pretty good with his church songs too. We've been told many times at nursery that he is one of the best singers. He gets most of the words down along with the music and sometimes he will tell Travis and I that we can't sing with him.

From Sacramento to Dallas...

Yesterday I got off of a conference call with my district and my manager asked me and the other Salt Lake City girl to call her later. I called first and my manager told me that they were going to restructure the district boundries which meant she would no longer be in charge of Salt Lake City! Bummer..I am usually really good with change and actually get excited when something new happens because for some reason I think it's fun to start something new, but this was not good news. I told Kathy that I thought it was a very bad idea and I wasn't happy. She agreed and said that they broke the news to her last week. I actually started crying. Kathy has been one of the greatest people to work for and now I have to move to a new district all because they wanted to even out the numbers. Dallas didn't have as many people so they thought they would steal from Sacramento's team. I know we're all on the "same team" and it's not like I am leaving the company. I am just so sad to be leaving such a great group of people. I am hoping for the best and I'm sure everything will be fine but it was really hard to hear. Kathy told me that she bragged to my new manager about how great I was and how I will be his "right hand man", blah blah blah and now I really have to live up to all that! Next week we have a big training meeting in Ft. Lauderdale that I was looking forward to because we all hadn't been together since last May, but they are making the switch Feb. 1st so they want me and the other SLC girl to start hanging out with Dallas. So sad...when I came out of my room to go tell Travis I burst into tears and he thought the worst. I tried to motion to him that it's not that bad, but all he could see was a very sad lady. I explained what happened and he gave a sigh of relief that I still had a job. He and Jake gave me hugs and kisses which helped but it was hard to head out the door. I seriously have never had that reaction about a job before...I must really like this one and I definitely liked my manager. So it's on to new things with Dallas and hopefully we'll have some fun! Jake was so sweet. When he saw how sad I was, he jumped off his train, gave me a hug and kiss and said don't worry I will make it all better. What a sweet kid!

Customer Service?

Each day I am amazed by the crazies who work in customer service and treat you like you are bothering them just by walking into the room. Today I waited for an hour for a doctor to come sign my computer for his samples...normally I wouldn't wait this long but I had scheduled this appointment so they were expecting me to be there and they really needed more samples. Half way through my wait, after several people walked in and out of the room I was in, one lady finally asked if the doctor had come in to see me yet. I told her that he hadn't and she said that it was probably because they forgot to tell him...right, that would have been helpful now wouldn't it. I ended up standing near the doorway so if the doctor walked by he would actually see me. I wasn't going to rely on anyone else to let him know I was there. So after the hour had passed and the doctor finally came to chat with me for 5 seconds before he went to see his next patient, I walked back to the front desk to return my badge and was glared at by the rep who was scheduled next, waiting in the room and the receptionist who handed me my keys. Like I was the one who had held everything up! I don't mind waiting my turn and all, but when places require you to schedule appointments in advance and then make you wait an hour in the back room where nobody can see you, and then don't apologize for the wait! What's the point in making an appointment at the doctor's office if they're not going to stick to the rules they made! I was not too happy to start my day out that way. Blast!

Here we go!

So this is our first attempt at blogging and hopefully it will go well. We've had the blog for a year and over Christmas my sister Sara showed me how to use it. Needless to say the updates may take us awhile to get to but Travis and I thought it would be fun to try it out. I guess the best place to start is with introductions, so here it goes...I'm Amanda, the wife, mother, etc. I just turned 29 this week and I work full time for a pharmaceutical company. Travis, the husband, father, etc. will be, ahem, 35 next month and it has just hit him that he is only 5 years away from 40. He's a full time student at UVU and is working towards a degree in Behavioral Science. He wants to be a counselor someday. Jacob, or Jake, the man of the house, son, cutest kid ever, etc. is our busy 2 1/2 year old. He keeps things entertaining in our house, always surprising us with new things he says and does. He's a sweet little boy! Just last night as we were getting ready to say our prayers he started into his own little prayer without any help from Travis or myself. He got the opening, middle and closing done all by himself and we were so proud. Sure we couldn't understand all of it but we knew what he meant. The best part about living with a 2 year old is that you can see exactly what kind of person you are because he will mimic things you say and do. Not that Travis and I are saints by any means, but it was nice to know that we're doing some good.
